CURRENT WORK
The Tulip Project
As a multi-disciplinary visual artist, I embark on a journey of creative exploration and adventure, seeking to capture life's essence and share the story of my artistic evolution. Inspired by my experiences and driven by a passion for storytelling, I present 'The Tulip Project', a whimsical fusion of sculpture, print, and painting that serves as an autobiographical exploration of my existence.
Each piece within 'The Tulip Project' is a symbolic reflection of the continuous ebb and flow of my life, a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of love, loss, and resilience. Through the central themes of flowers and bees, I symbolise various chapters of my journey, from moments of healing and restoration to manifestations of creativity and strong work ethic.
The choice of materials and techniques is deliberate, each element carefully selected to imbue my artwork with layers of meaning and depth. Vintage buttons and repurposed fabric, collected over decades from around the world, find new life in my soft sculptures, serving as tangible reminders of lived experiences and cherished memories.
For me, creating art is more than just a process; it is a transformative journey of self-discovery and expression. The repetitive nature of forming each flower mirrors the human response to challenges, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the beauty that emerges from adversity.
Through 'The Tulip Project', I invite viewers to embark on a colourful odyssey, to explore the intricate tapestry of my life as Tulip, my alter ego. As each artwork unfolds, it reveals a piece of my soul, a reflection of my joys and sorrows, hopes, and dreams. Ultimately, my art is a celebration of life's miracles, a reminder to trust in the power of resilience, and to always take the time to stop and smell the flowers.
